Director of Distribution & Logistics

Location: Greater Los Angeles Area

Position Overview:

A leading CPG Consumer Brand is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Distribution & Logistics to lead and optimize our global distribution network. This role will oversee 3PL partnerships, manage both domestic and international logistics, ensure customs compliance, and drive operational excellence across warehousing and transportation functions. The ideal candidate will be a results-driven leader with deep expertise in global supply chain operations, cost optimization, and high-performing team development.

Key Responsibilities:

3PL & Distribution Network Management

• Oversee North American and global 3PL distribution partners, ensuring optimal performance, cost control, and service level adherence.
• Develop and execute strategies to enhance warehouse efficiency, streamline order fulfillment, and improve delivery performance across retail, e-commerce, and wholesale channels.
• Conduct regular 3PL performance evaluations, renegotiating contracts and implementing best practices to improve cost and service efficiency.
• Optimize distribution center locations and transportation routing to reduce lead times and logistics costs.

International & Domestic Logistics & Customs Compliance

• Manage all aspects of international and domestic transportation, including freight forwarding, import/export regulations, and customs compliance.
• Ensure adherence to customs regulations, tariff classifications, trade agreements, and duty drawbacks to minimize risks and costs.
• Develop risk mitigation strategies for potential disruptions in the global supply chain, including trade policy changes, port congestion, and geopolitical impacts.
• Oversee relationships with parcel, ocean, air, and domestic freight carriers, driving cost efficiencies and negotiating favorable terms.

Operational Excellence & Cost Optimization

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across warehousing and logistics, leveraging Lean methodologies, automation, and data analytics to improve efficiency.
• Develop and manage logistics budgets, implementing cost-saving strategies without compromising service levels.
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor 3PL performance, transportation costs, order fulfillment accuracy, and customs compliance.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of 2 across distribution, logistics, and compliance functions.
• Partner with procurement, sales, finance, and demand planning to align logistics strategies with business needs.
• Stay ahead of industry trends, technology advancements, and regulatory updates to drive innovation and efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field; MBA preferred.
• 6+ years of experience in logistics, distribution, and 3PL management, must be in CPG, Consumer Durables, Hard Goods, Long Life Products or e-commerce sector.
• Proven leadership in managing multi-site distribution and international logistics operations.
• Expertise in customs compliance, import/export regulations, and global trade requirements.
• Strong negotiation skills with 3PLs, freight forwarders, and carriers to drive cost savings and service improvements.
• Experience with WMS, TMS, and ERP systems (SAP, NetSuite, or similar).
