Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain procurement strategies that balance quality, cost, and supply continuity.
  • Manage inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess that could impact production schedules.
  • Oversee the procurement of raw materials, packaging, and other supplies needed for daily operations.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to negotiate prices and terms that align with budgetary constraints and quality standards.
  • Supervise receiving procedures to ensure that materials received meet specifications.
  • Work closely with the production team to forecast needs and plan material requirements.
  • Implement and maintain controls and documentation procedures to comply with food safety and quality standards.
  • Monitor supplier performance and develop improvement plans to increase supply chain efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other managers and stakeholders to ensure that the plant's material needs are met promptly and cost-effectively.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Materials Manager in a food processing or manufacturing environment, preferably in meat processing.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain and inventory management systems.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable terms.
  • Familiarity with food industry standards and regulations, including HACCP, GMP, and food safety compliance.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team, ensuring effective communication and operational efficiency.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
