HOURS PER WEEK: Up to 25 hours per week
REPORTS TO: Site Coordinator
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Help oversee the successful implementation of services in the five core program areas: Character and Leadership Development, Education and Career Development, Health and Life Skills, The Arts, and Sports, Fitness & Recreation.
KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Youth Development
- Help support programs at assigned site.
- Assist members with Homework.
- Establish meaningful relationships with Boys & Girls Club members.
- Encourage positive reinforcement.
Program Development & Implementation
- Plan and implement programs and activities, which include but are not limited to:
- Academic Enrichment
- Healthy Lifestyles
- Character & Citizenship
- Work with Site Coordinator and team to:
- Create lesson plans, program calendars, schedule of activities
- Plan and implement special/culminating events
Supervision
- Ensure that members always remain in line of sight.
- Provide effective guidance and role modeling to members and help members resolve problems and conflicts.
- Provide a physically and emotionally safe environment for all members at all times.
- Ensure the emotional and physical safety of all members.
- Provide safe passage to and from off-site trips, walking program and special events.
Additional Responsibilities
- Contribute to ensuring that facilities, equipment, and supplies are maintained.
- Contribute to creating a fun and safe environment for youth.
- Build, maintain, cultivate relationships with key stakeholders (e.g., guardians, parents, teachers, school administration) – which includes, but is not limited to, calling/corresponding with/meeting with the aforementioned stakeholders.
- Assist with overall club programs or special events when needed.
- Ensure a productive work environment by working with all staff as a team member.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings, when required.
- Participate in all Mandatory Trainings.
- Assist with any activity reports that are needed.
- Contribute to creating a Club environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
- Contribute to programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
- High School Diploma required.
- AA degree or 48 college semester units or passing of the Program Leader Equivalency Exam.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavioral problems.
- Ability to organize and supervise youth in a safe environment.
- Experience working with youth ages 6-18.
- Mandatory CPR and First Aid certification prior to hire.
- All positions are subject to clearance of Background Checks and Drug Testing.
- Mandatory TB Testing prior to hire.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus but not required.
