MONTHLY SALARY: $8,922 - $11,641

THIS RECRUITMENT IS TO FILL A FULL-TIME VACANCIES IN THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT'S BUILDING AND SAFETY DIVISION AND TO ESTABLISH AN ELIGIBILITY LIST TO BE USED FOR FUTURE VACANCIES.
The examination process will consist of a competitive evaluation of qualifications based on a review of the Application and Supplemental Questionnaire; therefore, it is to your advantage to provide as much detailed and relevant work experience. SUMMARY: Under general direction, plans, oversees, coordinates, and manages the staff and operations of the Building Division; ensures City structures are built and inspections are conducted in compliance with federal, state, and local building codes; plans, supervises, and performs complex inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial properties to determine compliance with federal, state, and local codes, regulations, and ordinances; provides complex and responsible support to the Director of Community Development.

Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:
Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering, architecture, construction, or a related field. At least five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in design, construction, and/or inspection of public, commercial, industrial, and residential buildings including two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.

Must possess or have the ability to obtain an appropriate California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record. Certification from the International Code Council as a Building Official. Registered with the State of California as an architect, civil engineer, or structural engineer.
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
Work is usually performed in a standard office environment; may vary according to job assignment. May be required to travel to various sites, locations and/or events. Employees are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work at their assigned work location on the specified days and hours; employees are required to assume duties of a disaster worker in the event of a locally declared emergency.
