Position Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Engineer with a strong background in the energy sector, particularly in oil and gas (upstream, midstream, and downstream) and other industrial processing facilities. The Senior Project Engineer will be integral to overseeing and supporting complex, multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring efficient execution of schedules, budgets, and resources. This role will require both leadership and technical expertise to drive projects to completion while maintaining Total-Western's high standards of quality, safety, and innovation. You will collaborate with internal teams and clients, providing technical solutions and support to ensure the success of each project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership & Support: Lead and support the Project Manager in managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects from inception through to completion, ensuring alignment with client objectives and Total-Western's standards of excellence.
  • Independent Project Management: Take ownership of simpler multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet project scope.
  • Schedule Development & Monitoring: Develop, monitor, and update project schedules for industrial and processing facilities, ensuring alignment with project goals and client needs.
  • Progress Reporting: Prepare and deliver weekly progress reports, including budget tracking, risk management, and status updates, to ensure transparency and timely decision-making.
  • Resource Coordination: Oversee and coordinate manpower allocation, ensuring that the appropriate resources are in place to meet project milestones and deadlines.
  • Permitting Coordination: Interface with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) to coordinate and follow up on the permitting process, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Procurement Support: Provide technical support in the procurement of engineered equipment, ensuring specifications and timelines are met to facilitate smooth project execution.
  • Proposal & Estimation Support: Collaborate with department managers to develop accurate proposals, define project scope, and provide estimates for engineering and design deliverables.
  • Client Facility Support: Travel to client facilities as required, supporting project activities such as site visits, data collection, bid walks, and ensuring effective communication between the project team and clients.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (BS+) in a relevant engineering discipline (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial).
  • At least 15 years of experience in the energy industry, including oil and gas, with a focus on upstream, midstream, and downstream projects, as well as other industrial processing facilities.
  • Strong technical knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines, providing the ability to address complex project challenges.
  • Extensive experience using project control, scheduling, and resource planning tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, P6), with the ability to manage resources and budgets effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and PDF processing tools (e.g., Bluebeam, Adobe) to support project documentation and collaboration.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and best practices, ensuring projects are compliant with safety and quality regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical issues and implement effective solutions.

Work Environment: This is a full-time, office-based position located in Paramount, CA. The role will involve occasional travel to client facilities for project support, including site visits, data collection, bid walks, and collaboration with the project team to ensure project success.

Reporting Structure: The Senior Project Engineer will report directly to the Director of Engineering and work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and construction management, to ensure seamless project execution.
