In this position...

The HCD Team is responsible for the end-to-end experience, including digital and physical design of new businesses, products, and services. We are looking for creative individuals to join us and help further the vision and mission of HCD Ford's team. We are committed to envisioning and crafting simple, thoughtful, enjoyable, and compelling products and services for customers!

The position requires expertise in physical product solutions with strong visual design, design sensibility, and storytelling skills.

You will be responsible for concepting, sketching, designing prototypes, leading workshops, and managing assets throughout project cycles, pilots, and research initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, or related field
  • 3+ years of automotive industrial design experience (exterior, interior, components)
  • Senior Designer experience in consumer product, transportation sector, or design consultancy
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proficiency with 3D modeling software (Alias AutoStudio, Rhino, Blender)
  • Proficiency in presentation tools (PowerPoint, Keynote)

Preferred qualifications include...

  • Creativity and inventiveness in features and solutions
  • Ability to translate research into feasible product solutions
  • Strong storytelling and presentation skills
  • High aesthetic sensibility
  • Excellent sketching, visualization, and modeling skills
  • Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, and 3D applications like Alias AutoStudio, VRED, Rhino, Maya, or Blender
  • 5+ years of studio experience in Industrial or Transportation Design
  • Leadership in multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience with low fidelity prototyping (cardboard, foam, 3D printing)
  • Ability to develop design proposals from concept to production
  • Experience with inclusive and accessible design solutions
