Senior Project Manager, Startup Initiatives

Description:

Amazon is excited to announce an opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to lead the execution of innovative infrastructure projects within our Global Engineering Services (GES) Organization. This role is crucial for overseeing the successful launch of new and complex projects, ensuring we achieve our timelines, maintain budgetary constraints, and drive standardization across our network.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will be at the forefront of managing medium to large capital projects with fixed schedules, leading a dedicated team of support personnel. You will coordinate multiple vendor schedules simultaneously and engage with stakeholders at all organizational levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage both new and ongoing programs, successfully delivering ambitious projects and objectives across numerous teams.
  • Collaborate with other program managers to allocate resources, define project scope, set priorities, and establish milestones.
  • Oversee program communication, accelerating progress by facilitating prompt and clear decision-making and addressing blockers effectively.
  • Influence the design and development of strategic processes that enhance operational efficiency.
  • Partner with program managers and business leaders to effectively communicate and impact critical business initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and govern all business, technical, fiscal, and administrative functions for the assigned program or project.
  • Provide accountability through status reporting, promptly addressing issues and escalating them as necessary.
  • Manage the overall project schedule, enabling teams to achieve success based on project milestones and Go-Live dates.

This position requires travel up to 50%. A typical week may encompass:

  1. Travel logistics, including airport and rental car arrangements.
  2. Meetings with stakeholders, budget reporting, and project reviews.
  3. Safety evaluations and order reviews with procurement teams.
  4. Progress tracking and communication with the team to document lessons learned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in program or project management.
  • Skills in defining program requirements and utilizing data metrics for improvements.
  • Proven experience in cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to manage teams and deliver projects across various functions.
  • Fluent in both English and Portuguese.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in implementing standardized processes and driving automation efforts.
  • Proven success in end-to-end project delivery and effective communication with senior leadership.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with a track record of engaging multiple stakeholders at different organizational levels.
  • Experience in building processes and managing project timelines.
  • Proficiency in additional languages such as Spanish, French, Polish, Arabic, Turkish, Afrikaans, or Zulu is a plus.
