Description
The Bioinformatics Programmer 2 provides support with works
involving computational theory-into-practice, with in-depth understanding of
IT-related diverse research application areas. They will utilize computational,
computer science, data science, and CI software research and development
principles, with relevant science knowledge, along with professional
programming concepts, for research projects. Conducts a variety of
computational, data science, and CI research tools and components. Performs
research on current and future HPC, data, and CI technologies, hardware and
software. In addition, they will work on algorithm development, optimization,
programming, and computer science research.
Hourly Salary Range: $37.60 - $78.35
Qualifications
All Required:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computational Science, Data Science, or Domain Science with computer/computational/data specialization or equivalent combination of education and experience
2-3 years of experience in computational science, data science, statistics, or a related field, with computer, computational, and/or data management experience
Moderate knowledge of basic and multivariate statistics
Proficiency in at least two programming languages. Experience with: Cold Fusion, CVS, Solaris, Linux, MS SQL Server, JavaScript, C#, TCL, and Oracle database
Demonstrated ability to regularly interface with management
Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to learn effectively and meet deadlines
Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel at various organizational levels
Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects successfully
Experience collaborating with technical staff, students, faculty, and administrators at all levels
Working knowledge and experience with: HTML, database design, Visual.NET, IIS Web configuration, MS Access, SQL, and Unix
