Our client is a full-service municipal engineering firm that provides several professional construction management, land development, and building engineering services. They are looking to fill several positions in their Walnut, CA office.

Design/Project Engineer Responsibilities:

• Gathers and organizes data and prepares designs, plans, estimates, reports, and specifications for construction, alteration, and maintenance of a variety of civil engineering projects.
• Prepares plans and profiles, makes quantity estimates, establishes tentative line and grade, ascertains drainage area and computes run-off velocity and quantity of flow, designs various structures following design standards, computes stationing, and reviews plans for clearance with existing and proposed improvements and substructures.
• Reviews designs of staff assigned to performed tail drafting and computations.
• Maintain project schedules and budgets on many projects concurrently. Analyzes proposed improvement bids and prepares job schedules.
• Investigates project engineering feasibility and cost; designs street improvements, storm drains, water mains, sanitary sewers, and other public works projects.
• Designs site improvements and small structures perform hydraulics systems analysis; locates catch basins and makes hydraulic calculations.
• Prepares records and various reports which are required for engineering assignments.
• Assists in or perform contract administration, surveys, and inspections, preparation of change orders, and preparation of reports on all phases of projects including work progress, financial status, progress payments, design details, and calculations.
• Assists in the checking of improvement plans and engineering calculations prepared by private engineers for grading, retaining walls, street improvements, storm drainage, water systems, sanitary sewers facilities, and all parts of municipal infrastructure and other related projects.
• Assists in the development of conditions of approval for tentative tract maps, tentative parcel maps, coordinated reviews, variances, and conditional use permits.
• Prepares reports, estimates, agreements, and written requests to city councils with recommendations and other correspondence

Design/Project Engineer Requirements:

• BS in Civil Engineer
• Must have an active CA PE
• 4+ years of professional civil engineering experience including a combination of planning, design, and construction of highways or flood control projects, project management, project design, the strength of materials, materials testing, surveying and photogrammetry, hydraulics and hydrology, land use, and subdivisions, construction inspection, quantity and cost estimating, traffic engineering and contract administration.

Design/Project Engineer compensation:

• Salary range of $120 – 150k
