A boutique litigation firm in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a highly organized Legal Secretary to support its collaborative, fast-paced practice. This role works directly with a senior partner known for leading complex, high-profile cases. Key responsibilities include preparing legal documents, managing discovery, calendaring deadlines, handling case intake, and supporting trial preparation. The ideal candidate is a dependable legal professional with solid litigation experience, strong technical skills, and a proactive, detail-oriented approach to supporting attorneys across a variety of civil and regulatory matters.

Salary: $36 - $40 / hour DOE

Legal Secretary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and finalize legal documents including discovery shells, tables, declarations, exhibits, and transmittal letters
  • Proofread, cite check, and assemble filings for service and submission to courts
  • Manage documents for review, production, and organization for hearings, depositions, and trials
  • Conduct case intake and gather client information, track filings, and maintain organized case files
  • Handle calendaring responsibilities using Compulaw and ensure court deadlines are met
  • Coordinate with attorneys for conference calls, video meetings, and court communications
  • Support trial prep including PowerPoint development and demonstrative aid creation
  • Assist with various administrative tasks related to complex litigation cases
Legal Secretary Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Legal Secretary or Legal Assistant in a litigation law firm
  • Hybrid legal assistant/paralegal experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of California State and Federal court rules, including e-filing procedures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Westlaw, PACER, DISCO, Relativity, or similar platforms
  • Experience handling complex litigation from intake to trial preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage changing priorities
  • Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate is preferred but not required with relevant experience
