The Sr. Academic Personnel (AP) Analyst is responsible for

managing and coordinating all academic personnel functions for the Academic

Affairs Office of the David Geffen School of Medicine. Specific areas

of responsibility include dossier management, academic recruitment, advancement, and separation, leave administration, benefits,

personnel administration, employee

relations, payroll management, and coordination of credentialing,

privileging, visas, and special license programs. The Sr. AP Analyst serves as subject matter expert (SME) and

point of contact on various academic personnel policies and procedures,

ensuring compliance with UC, UCLA, DGSOM, and department policies.

Salary Range: $78,500.00 - $163,600.00

Qualifications

All Required:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience/training

  • Thorough knowledge of UC-wide Academic Personnel Policies (APM) and bargaining union contracts, and the procedures and practices that govern academic personnel administration.

  • Thorough knowledge of local, i.e. DGSOM and/or department, voting and compensation plan bylaws, and the procedures and practices that govern academic personnel administration.

  • Thorough knowledge of Compensation Plan bylaws including Outside Professional Activities and the procedures and practices that govern these.

  • Demonstrated analytical skills to conduct analysis, develop recommendations, and resolve issues.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize work and manage divergent needs.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and complete projects within specified deadlines.

  • Adept in handling sensitive information and / or situations and maintaining strict confidentiality.

  • Adept in meeting deadlines despite frequent interruptions.

  • Adept in composing business, personnel and/or payroll correspondence.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively relay and obtain information, explain policies and procedures, and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with diverse audiences, including faculty, staff, and students.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff, managers, and colleagues within and outside DGSOM.

  • Thorough knowledge of benefits and retirement programs, preferably in a university environment; ability to interpret and communicate complex benefits information to employees at all levels.
