Los Angeles / HYPEMAKER (Agency) – Business Development/Client Relations / Full-time

HYPEMAKER is a global agency providing total creative solutions for a diverse set of verticals in fashion, lifestyle, automotive, tech, FMCG, and more. From ideation, content amplification, creative production, and consumer insight, brands also have access to Hypebeast's global distribution network of over 10.5 million readers per month and 10 million social media followers worldwide. As Business Director, you'll play a pivotal role in growing diverse revenue streams with some of the biggest and well-known brands in the world. We are looking for someone who is extremely motivated with an entrepreneurial and results-oriented mindset, driven by developing and growing business opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a partner and advisor to US sales leadership teams
  • New lead generation alongside growing and maintaining existing accounts
  • Develop and exceed set KPIs in line with global and regional business goals
  • Develop a strong understanding of client organizations and strategies
  • Understand client's requirements, brief the creative and strategic planning teams, and pitch creative marketing strategies
  • Thrive on selling into complex and dynamic organizations across a broad spectrum of industries
  • Lead in new business from helping to recruit new businesses to the roster, to playing an active role in pitch development and delivery
  • Canvassing for new business from competitive creative agencies to grow business and increase revenue
  • Monitor the revenue pipeline and leads, adjusting as necessary to create sustainable growth
  • Identifying marketplace opportunities and areas for improvement. Monitor the marketplace and analyze opportunities, providing competitive analysis, strategies, and tactics
  • Ensuring market feedback is accurately relayed internally
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-moving environment
  • Negotiating deals with a focus on long-term value, whilst managing multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Deep-diving into client's requirements, identifying upsell opportunities. The goal is to be an extension of the client business and understand their challenges
  • Ensuring the client is front of mind at all times by keeping them up to date on a consistent basis. An understanding that relationship building is key to sales success
  • Build and foster creative teams committed to continuing our culture of innovation
  • Working with the creative and accounts team to build proposals, with the goal to always exceed client expectations
  • Proactively research and update yourself on new online marketing (sales) trends and ideas, always keeping a close eye on competitor agencies
  • Managing and growing client database
  • Achieve and exceed individual sales and business targets
  • Proven winner with a deep desire to close big deals and earn large commissions
  • Report to regional head (New York based) on new market trends and opportunities to drive revenue

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in sales, business development, and/or client-facing roles
  • Proficiency in European language(s) is very advantageous
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills over email and phone
  • Confident in presenting to c-suite level stakeholders
  • Masterful presentation and negotiation skills, both in-person and over the phone
  • Strong contacts across the United States with direct clients and c-suite contacts
  • Wide network and existing relationships with media buyers; strong enterprise-level book of business
  • Availability for light travel and willingness to entertain clients on a regular basis
  • A creative seller. The ability to plug brand challenges into an ecosystem and quickly develop solutions
  • Proven experience and results in selling big-budget ideas and solutions to global brands at a senior level
  • Must be a team player and be able to interact with staff at all levels of the company, the client's organization, properties and/or vendors
  • Experienced in working through conflict and issues, with the ability to make timely decisions and recommendations
  • Has demonstrated consistent above-average performance evaluations in previous roles
  • Ability to work in an environment characterized by constant change and tight deadlines
