Civil Construction Estimator

The Opportunity

As an estimator, you will play a crucial role in our project lifecycle, from initial concept to successful completion. You will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, identifying potential risks, and helping us secure new projects. This role requires a sharp eye for detail, a solid understanding of civil engineering principles, and a knack for problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for a variety of civil construction projects, including site work, grading, utilities, and roadwork.
  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand the scope of work and identify all required materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and subcontractors to gather information and ensure all project components are accounted for.
  • Perform quantity take-offs and develop a comprehensive breakdown of costs.
  • Identify and assess potential risks, opportunities, and value engineering options.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, material costs, and labor rates.
  • Help prepare and present bids and proposals to clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as an estimator in the civil construction industry.
  • Proven experience with estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, B2W Estimate, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of civil construction processes, materials, and equipment.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, plans, and specifications.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
