Location: Santa Fe Springs, CA (approximately 15 miles southeast of Los Angeles). The plant was founded in 1993, manufactures APET Containers, and has approximately 300 employees.

Salary range: A reasonable estimate of the current range is $109,000 - $182,000 + bonus + benefits. The range reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries across US locations. Individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience and relevant education or training. Compensation decisions are based on facts and circumstances of each case.

Responsibilities

Position Overview: Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Engineering, Extrusion, Maintenance, and Tooling departments, with a focus on maximizing production output, optimizing operational efficiency (OEE), and achieving established cost targets.

  • Provide leadership for Engineering, Maintenance and Quality with the objective of maximizing production volume while achieving cost targets.
  • Manage the capital budget and develop technical talent in the group.
  • Ensure plant facilities and production equipment are properly maintained.
  • Manage the plant Capital Budget and Engineering expense budget.
  • Collaborate with plant technical and operations resources to identify capital deployment opportunities.
  • Responsible for CAR submission and coordination of capital activities.
  • Responsible for hiring, salary administration, performance management including disciplinary actions, employee development and salary administration.
  • Provide engineering support and resources to sustain plant production.
  • Coordinate communication and implementation of manufacturing and technical initiatives.
  • Manage the AOP budget, including technical group salaries, building and grounds, maintenance materials and utilities.
  • Ensure environmental compliance and support plant safety programs.
  • Responsible for the RTO process and for PSM, RMP and Title V processes and programs.
  • Material management responsibility for raw material efficiency.
  • Identify capital improvements to aid the plant in achieving AOP.

Qualifications

Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience in maintenance within extrusion / thermoforming / stamping / converting.
  • Knowledge of Lean / Tier processes.
  • Track record of downtime reduction through process improvements and machine reliability.
  • Experience with SAP.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations.

Education And/or Experience Requirements:

  • BS in engineering with 7 years in engineering field, demonstrated project and process management skills, and at least 5 years supervisory experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve various technical issues.

Physical Requirements And Work Environment

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Operate tools and machinery with precision; perform maintenance tasks.
  • Work in varied environmental conditions (hot, cold, wet, dusty, or noisy).
  • Visual acuity to read technical documents and safety warnings; ability to perform detailed inspections.
  • Respond to alarms and verbal instructions; wear required PPE.
