The Opportunity:
Mattel is currently seeking an Associate Cost Engineer. This is a critical role within our Design & Development division; and will be responsible for analyzing, estimating, and optimizing the cost of products throughout their development lifecycle. The Associate Cost Engineer will collaborate closely with program management, design, engineering, manufacturing, and finance teams to ensure products meet cost targets without compromising quality or performance. Their work involves evaluating materials, manufacturing processes and assembly to identify cost-saving opportunities and support data-driven decision-making during product design and development. This person will also assist in the modernization and upkeep of our costing tools and support Value Engineering exercises and tracking.

What Your Impact Will Be

• Providing product cost estimates to marketing, design, and development leadership; as part of go/no-go decisions on product content;
• Liaising with our peers, manufacturing factories and contract manufacturing teams overseas;
• Optimizing mechanical design for manufacturability; cost and performance;
• Supporting our global brand team in licensor pitches to win new businesses;
• Assist in updating and improving our existing tools;
• Support Value Engineering exercises and tracking.
  
  

What Were Looking For

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Effective communication skills
• Working knowledge of 3D modeling software
• Ability to work in multi-functional teams
• Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.
  
  

The annual base salary range for this position is between $70,000 and $80,000.

• This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidates work location, skills and experience.
