Overview

Cloud Infrastructure Solutions Architect (Information Technology Consultant - Expert) at California State University, Fullerton. Temporary position with potential renewal; work schedule Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; occasional early morning, evening and/or weekend hours. End date: end on or before June 30, 2026 with possibility of renewal if funds/program needs exist.

Responsibilities

• Implement and support cloud services across various computing environments.
• Lead deployment of highly available and fault-tolerant enterprise and web-scale software, including data center–to–cloud migrations.
• Design decoupled cloud infrastructure, implement proactive scaling, ensure disaster recovery and business continuity, and maintain cloud security and serverless infrastructure.
• Understand and optimize cloud cost structures; implement infrastructure automation through DevOps scripting (Shell, Python, Ruby, PowerShell).
• Apply architectural frameworks (SOA, DDD) and use infrastructure-as-code tools (CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager, Terraform) and configuration management tools (Chef, Puppet, Ansible).
• Integrate SaaS providers into multi-vendor environments; manage and review cloud resources for availability; troubleshoot issues for various departments.
• Manage Active Directory (AD) objects related to cloud resources; install, administer, and troubleshoot Windows and VMware servers.
• Support IaaS and PaaS for campus divisions and departments; administer campus-wide cloud environment; assist with backup and disaster recovery tasks.
• Coordinate with campus technicians on upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting; arrange scheduled downtime as needed.
• Plan, test, and deploy cloud applications to ensure performance and reliability.
• Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Telecommunications, Engineering, Engineering Technology or a related field with five years of full-time relevant experience; or twelve years of relevant full-time experience; or an associate degree with seven years of relevant full-time experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of five years in Cloud and System Engineer or Cloud Architect role; holds AWS Certified Solutions Architect or equivalent; expert knowledge of cloud infrastructure with preferable AWS experience.

License/Certifications

• Valid California driver's license.
