Overview
Director of Design & Construction for The HUB Design Innovation & Hospitality Services, LLC. Location: United States, California, Culver City. Compensation: Car allowance & Bonus eligible. The organization specializes in transforming diverse dining spaces, from senior living communities to hospitals, into vibrant and personalized environments.
We are seeking a candidate with experience in Planning, Design, and Construction Project Management, particularly in healthcare or senior living settings.
Job Summary
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience in Planning, Design, and Construction Project Management in healthcare or senior living environments. They should be proficient in developing design concepts, retail environments, brands, construction methods, budgeting, bid processes, and overall project management. Knowledge of construction requirements specific to healthcare and senior living settings is required. The candidate should demonstrate exceptional communication and people skills and be comfortable presenting in executive and jobsite contexts. The role offers the opportunity to guide and manage projects from conceptual planning through construction and to coordinate design development, contracts, and construction processes for multiple projects.
Job Responsibilities
- Communicate regularly with senior management, operations, and client leadership regarding project status.
- Oversee and lead diverse project teams in a collaborative development process.
- Establish best practices for Planning, Design and Construction aligned with sector strategy and brand standards.
- Lead space transformation with innovative solutions for environment, hospitality, and operational efficiency; support client new-build efforts when consulting relationships exist.
- Foster relationships among operations, culinary leadership, and Retail Innovations Design & Planning teams; develop client and internal relationship retention.
- Create innovative tools and processes to streamline project dependencies and timing to manage client expectations and unite design & planning teams, partners, and clients.
- Define and develop contractual obligations through scope of work for design services, FF&E packages, construction proposals, budgeting, and buildout execution.
- Pursue profitability by realigning resources and applying value engineering where appropriate.
- Review and approve design team packages and proposals for assigned projects in collaboration with operations, architects, engineers, and GCs.
- Ensure design meets expectations, budget, schedule, and project terms; manage budgets and schedules to align with sector procedures.
- Forecast potential hurdles and conflicts, communicating with field teams and clients and readjusting timelines and resources as needed.
- Coordinate with Brand Managers, Operations, Culinary teams, Marketing Managers, and Client Project Managers on project status and developments.
- Develop innovative procedures and activities that promote retail, brand solutions, small-site development, and design & planning initiatives.
- Support brand partners with implementation & integration into Compass.
- Collaborate with Foodbuy to ensure alignment with purchasing initiatives and programs, promoting continuous improvement.
Job Qualifications
- 3+ years in Planning, Design, and Construction Project Management in Healthcare/Senior Living.
- 3+ years of foodservice/hospitality industry construction or design experience strongly desired.
- Bachelor's Degree in design, engineering, or construction-related field preferred. Street Retail Brand experience/knowledge preferred.
- Knowledge of Architectural & Engineering processes and coordination.
- Knowledge of custom millwork fabrication, equipment manufacturing & distribution, and general FF&E knowledge. AutoCAD/REVIT and Bluebeam knowledge desired.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Project, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and teams under pressure and exceed expectations.
- Commitment to quality and detail; strong writing and presentation skills.
- High level communication, technical, and creative skills.
- Ability to travel up to 30%; fully remote unless located near a Compass office and office space is desired. Must live near a major airport.
