Software Engineer

Description:

PGS Worldwide is actively seeking a Software Lead for a one-year contract-to-hire position in Manhattan Beach, CA. This is a 1st-shift role (9/80A schedule) that requires up to 50% travel to Woodland Hills, CA. The selected candidate will lead a team of engineers supporting the development, integration, and delivery of the Navigation Payload system for the Space Development Agency portfolio of programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related STEM field with:
    • 12+ years of software development experience; OR
    • 10+ years with a Master's degree; OR
    • 8+ years with a Ph.D.
  • Proven management experience directing a team of software engineers and driving program execution toward software delivery schedules
  • Strong background in process improvement, configuration management, and code quality practices
  • Hands-on experience with VxWorks and Wind River Workbench
  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming
  • Corporate experience requiring cross-collaboration with systems and hardware engineering teams
  • Must have the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Agile development and the Atlassian Tool Suite (Jira, BitBucket, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Pointing, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) and Global Positioning System (GPS) technical baselines
  • Experience with full software lifecycle activities (architecture, requirements, development, integration, and test)
  • Ability to work comfortably in a lab environment and collaborate across large, multi-disciplinary teams
Position Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, coordinating with stakeholders across multiple divisions
  • Drive execution of software development toward program delivery milestones
  • Guide process improvements in configuration management, tasking, and code quality
  • Support requirements decomposition and report status/metrics to program leadership
  • Design, develop, document, test, and debug applications software and systems
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers on system integration and optimization
  • Develop test strategies to ensure software functionality, performance, and reliability
  • Ensure compliance with software engineering standards and best practices
