Overview

Senior Mechanical Engineer | California — Lead the design, development, and testing of advanced mechanical systems for innovative, compact power platforms. This role contributes to clean, safe, and resilient energy solutions for remote, critical, and high-demand applications.

Base pay range

$140,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr

Key Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical system design and development for high-performance energy platforms
• Own full engineering lifecycle: from concept through prototyping, validation, and release
• Perform mechanical, thermal, and structural analyses using hand calculations and simulation tools
• Optimize systems via trade studies to balance performance, safety, cost, and reliability
• Author test plans, procedures, and manufacturing/assembly documentation
• Coordinate with external vendors to ensure on-time delivery of high-integrity components
• Maintain and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation
• Conduct subsystem risk assessments (e.g., FMEA, root cause analysis)

Required Experience

• 5+ years of mechanical engineering in safety-critical or high-performance environments
• Expertise with high-temperature and high-pressure mechanical systems
• Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and system validation
• Strong background in thermodynamics, heat transfer, structural mechanics, and fluid systems
• Proficient with modern CAD and simulation tools (e.g., SolidWorks, ANSYS, COMSOL)
• Strong communicator and effective collaborator across engineering teams

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or closely related field from an accredited institution
