Inglewood Unified School District is seeking qualified candidates for the Elementary Clerk Typist II position. This incumbent(s) will perform general clerical work of average difficulty involving standardized procedures. The position requires high school or GED graduation and three years in computer and attendance procedures and activities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Principal and other Administrative Staff, the Elementary Clerk Typist II performs general clerical work of average difficulty involving standardized procedures; must be able to effectively operate modern office machines and other related equipment used in largely repetitive activities and for other work when requested and/or required.

Administrator of the area of assignment and/or designee

The outcome of the Ele,emtary Clerk Typist II's job performance will be as follows:

  1. Duties related to setting up and starting a computer will have been effectively carried out.
  2. The quantity of separate reports required will have been properly and appropriately printed out (on a computer printer) when requested. E
  3. Re-admittance cards for students who are returning from absence will have been appropriately and properly issued. Student attendance will have been properly posted and maintained for correct input into the student information system. E
  4. Students requesting approval to leave early will have been checked by telephone verification and/or emergency card information prior to departure. E
  5. Notes of students suspected of forgery will have been scrutinized available emergency card information, and by making telephone calls to parents. E
  6. Receive student enrollment information; input and code incoming data into student information system, including; but not limited to student demographics, testing information, class rosters and attendance into assigned computerized system; prepare and produce master schedule and bell schedules. E
  7. Pre-schedule students for the coming year. E
  8. Process, assemble and distribute a variety of school reports such as school attendance rosters, testing, grades and student progress reports. E
  9. Create queries and run various reports as request by site administrator. E
  10. Updated reports on students with truancy records will have been made to the Principal and Counselors on a regular basis. E
  11. Effective working relationships with the Principal and Counselors will have been established. E
  12. Clearance slips for students who have checked out of school will have been typed in a timely and accurate manner. E
  13. Students, when requested by parents, will have been summoned in a prompt and efficient manner. E
  14. Duplicate re-admittance cards will have been issued to students when required. E
  15. Suspension notice will have been typed in an appropriate manner. E
  16. Students who are ill will have been properly assisted in the absence of the nurse. E
  17. A log accounting for suspensions and other disciplinary actions will have been forwarded to the Child Welfare Attendance Officer on a monthly basis. E
  18. Records of students who are utilizing DPSS services will have been accurately maintained. E
  19. Registration papers and emergency cards will be properly filed and adequately maintained. E
  20. Provide general clerical functions, including answering the phone, filing, typing, completing forms and making mathematical calculations. E
  21. Office Practice Students will have been properly trained and supervised. E
  22. Scan-Tron forms from classrooms will have been properly run and forwarded to various teachers in a timely fashion. E
  23. Calls verifying the reason why students, who have been absent for more than two days, will have been made in an efficient and competent manner. E
  24. Records regarding expenditures, purchasing of school supplies, current inventories and budgets will have been efficiently monitored and systemized. E
  25. Vital information regarding student's qualifications for enrollment in school will have communicated in an effective and professional manner. E

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

Education:
Equivalent to graduation from high school

Experience:
Three years in computer and attendance procedures and activities

Any other combination of education, training, and/or experience that demonstrates the applicant's likely possession of the required skills, knowledge, and abilities may be considered.

Knowledge of:
Modern office practices; computer input skills, data processing procedures and effective telephone communication skills.

Ability to:
Perform clerical work involving independent judgment and mini-computer operations; ability to type at a speed of 40 words per minute (pending board approval) from clear, legible copy; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others; work with parents/students and the community when required.

Personal Qualifications:
Character, personality, and proper social capability to relate effectively with staff, students, and community. Demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of community groups.

Job Consideration Requirements:
All applicants must submit a typing test demonstrating the ability to type 40 words per minute (pending board approval) with net accuracy. The typing test must be submitted/completed prior to final interview.

The examination process for this recruitment may be comprised of one or any combination of the following: screening of the applicant's training, background, and experience; scored evaluation of responses on a supplemental application; written examination(s); qualifications appraisal oral examination; performance examination; or technical oral examination, scored on a job-related basis. Only the most highly qualified candidates will be invited to continue the examination process. Successful candidates who pass all parts of the examination process will be placed on the eligibility list in order of their relative merit as determined by these competitive examinations. The eligibility list for this classification will remain in effect for a period of 6 months.
