Breakfast Attendant (Guest Service Expert)

Brands: Residence Inn • Fairfield Inn & Suites • SpringHill Suites

Reports To: Breakfast Supervisor / AGM / GM (property dependent)

Department: Food & Beverage / Rooms (property dependent)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Schedule: Full-time / Part-time; early mornings required; weekends and holidays as needed
Position Summary

This job isn't just about putting food on the table. We want to create a breakfast experience that is welcoming, clean, and memorable. Breakfast Attendants take initiative to support guests throughout breakfast service by setting up, stocking, serving, cleaning, and keeping the area safe and guest-ready. Every interaction should feel like part of the guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience
  • Greet guests warmly and assist with breakfast questions and requests
  • Maintain a friendly, helpful presence in the breakfast area throughout service
  • Address concerns quickly and notify leadership when needed
Breakfast Setup, Service, and Replenishment
  • Set up breakfast area (buffet, coffee, juice, condiments, to-go items) per brand standards
  • Replenish hot/cold items and supplies; rotate product and maintain presentation
  • Monitor food quality and remove items that do not meet standards
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and allergen-awareness practices (temperatures, glove use, cross-contact prevention, handwashing)
Cleanliness and Organization
  • Keep tables, floors, counters, and stations clean and stocked during service
  • Bus and wipe tables; manage trash and restock supplies
  • Wash dishes and maintain dish area cleanliness (as applicable)
  • Complete opening, running, and closing checklists and side duties
Teamwork and Communication
  • Communicate supply needs, equipment issues, and guest concerns to the appropriate leader
  • Support other departments when needed based on business levels
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Food service or hospitality experience preferred (entry-level candidates welcome)
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays
  • Required permits/certifications as applicable (example: California Food Handler Card within required timeframe)
Physical Requirements
  • Stand and walk for extended periods; work in a fast-paced environment
  • Work on potentially wet/slippery surfaces
  • Lift/move up to 25 lbs without assistance and up to 50 lbs with assistance
  • Reach overhead and below the knees; bend, twist, pull, and stoop
  • Repetitive tasks including cleaning, stocking, and light food prep
