This position serves as a strategic financial leader, overseeing the company's accounting operations, treasury management, and financial reporting. This role ensures the accuracy of the balance sheet and provides insightful financial reports to support executive decision-making. In addition to technical expertise, the Controller mentors and develops the finance team, promoting a culture of continuous growth.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The duties listed below are considered essential to the successful performance of this position, as defined by Front Porch. Additional responsibilities may be assigned in the future and may also be regarded as necessary to the role:
• Ensure the accounting and reporting systems accurately and properly record financial transactions to permit the preparation of financial statements and statutory reports according to GAAP.
• Develop internal control systems to ensure fiscal accountability throughout the Plan. Determine the proper treatment of new accounting guidance or unusual transactions.
• Collaborate with the VP of Finance to provide strategic oversight of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to reporting standards, while also identifying areas for process improvement.
• Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, general ledger, and fixed assets.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state reporting requirements, including Medicare and Medi-Cal Cost Reports, Department of Social Services reporting, and tax planning.
• Coordinate with external auditors while providing financials, schedules, and reconciliations.
• Analyze financial results and identify key insights to support strategic decision-making, then clearly communicate these findings to leadership.
• Collaborate with the budget team to prepare schedules and analytics for the consolidated annual budget. Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, efficiencies, and areas for cost reduction.
• Responsible for treasury management, including weekly cash position, liquidity management, and maintaining a strong understanding of investment strategies.
• Maintain a deep competency of the balance sheet, ensuring accurate reconciliations, timely resolutions of discrepancies, and a clear understanding of the company's financial position.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to finance team members, fostering professional growth, strengthening technical skills, and building a culture of accountability and collaboration.
• Perform all other related duties as assigned.
