Job Title: Server
Location: Ari's Thai Eatery, Azusa and/or Anaheim
Reports To: Lead Server / Assistant Manager / Manager on Duty
Position Overview
The Server is the primary point of connection between Basil&Co Group and our guests. You are not merely an order-taker — you are a host, a guide, a storyteller, and a problem-solver. Your ability to read the table, anticipate needs, and deliver seamless, refined service defines the guest experience. We serve our food family-style, and understanding how to introduce, guide, and execute that format gracefully is a core part of this role. This position is at-will.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Service Execution
- Greet and welcome guests within 60 seconds of being seated, with warmth and professionalism.
- Present menus and provide knowledgeable, confident guidance on all food and beverage items, including Thai cuisine traditions, flavor profiles, and allergen information.
- Introduce and guide guests through the family-style dining format — framing it as a feature of the experience, not a limitation.
- Take and relay accurate food and beverage orders; repeat back every item to confirm before entering into the POS system.
- Coordinate with the kitchen to ensure all dishes arrive simultaneously for family-style tables, or in the correct course order when guests request it.
- Deliver all food to the table together, announcing each dish by name and placing serving spoons with every shared item.
- Check back within 2–3 minutes of the food landing to ensure complete guest satisfaction.
- Process payments accurately and efficiently; present the check only when guests signal readiness — never rush.
Table & Section Management
- Monitor tables proactively throughout service — anticipate guest needs before they are expressed.
- Maintain beverage levels, clear dishes only when all guests at the table have finished, and ensure the table is always guest-ready.
- Maintain a clean, organized service station at all times.
- Coordinate closely with bussers and the kitchen on timing, food drops, and service flow.
Menu Knowledge & Upselling
- Maintain thorough, up-to-date knowledge of all menu items, daily specials, and 86'd items.
- Describe dishes using sensory, evocative language that enhances the guest's anticipation and enjoyment.
- Guide guests on portion quantities for their table size and suggestively offer dessert and after-dinner beverages.
- Always ask about spice preferences and dietary needs; consult the kitchen whenever there is any uncertainty about allergens.
Team Contribution
- Operate as part of one team — assist at any table, support bussers during heavy drops, and step in wherever needed.
- Complete all pre-shift, during-service, and post-shift side-work assignments thoroughly.
- Report any guest feedback, incidents, or concerns to the manager promptly.
- Tip out bussers per established protocol and sign out from POS before leaving.
Minimum Qualifications
- Prior serving experience in a full-service restaurant required; Thai cuisine or family-style experience is preferred.
- Genuine passion for hospitality and the ability to deliver refined, attentive service with warmth and professionalism.
- Excellent communication, memory, and multi-tasking skills in a high-volume environment.
- Food Handler's Certification required.
- Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk continuously for long shifts in a fast-paced, high-volume dining room.
- Ability to carry trays and lift up to 30 lbs; must be comfortable balancing multiple plates and shared serving dishes.
- Must remain calm, composed, and guest-focused regardless of service pace or pressure.

HELP OTHERS
We operate as one team. When a colleague needs support, we step in without being asked. Our culture of helping is what makes us exceptional in high-volume service.
CONTINUOUS LEARNER
Our menu evolves. Guest expectations evolve. We evolve. We study our craft with curiosity and dedication — every shift is an opportunity to improve, and we embrace that.
INTEGRITY
We do the right thing — especially when no one is watching. We are honest with our guests, our teammates, and ourselves. Integrity is the foundation on which trust is built.
SKILLFUL
Warmth and intention must be matched by mastery. We develop genuine skill in our craft and take pride in being truly excellent at what we do.
